The drill head machine.

BM 1250. On this machine the drill heads with the tools don't move - the
clamping fixture with the workpieces is moving. The 3-axis unit takes the workpieces from the loading position via the Pick-up system and moves them from a multi-spindle drilling or milling head to the next one thus reducing the chip-to-chip time to a minimum of 1 second. The horizontal design ensures an optimum chip flow. The monoblock design provides for maximum rigidity and low moving masses. The rigidity and the stationary drilling/milling units provide for optimum quality even if the feed forces are high. Workpieces which cannot appropriately be machined on other SW machining centers from an economical and technical point of view, are perfectly machined on a BM centre. Apart from the drill/mill heads and the clamping fixture all other components are standard components or standard options resulting in short lead times; the adaption of the machine configuration to a workpiece - no matter whether 3, 4 or 5 axes will be required - is as flexible as for a machining centre. Many talk about a reconfigurable machine - we are building it. |
