A couple of facts to start with

Emerging from Heckler & Koch GmbH, the young
company SW has a story rich in tradition.

1981: activity within the Heckler & Koch Group
as an independent line of business under the name
Heckler & Koch Maschinen- und Anlagenbau GmbH.
A highly innovative group of companies offering
a diversified assortment of products.

1991: take-over of the Heckler & Koch group by
British Aerospace. Alterations: concentration of the
British group on defense and aerospace technology.
Exclusion, amongst others, of the business lines
mechanical and plant engineering.

1995: The management recognizes the opportunity:
foundation of Schwäbische Werkzeugmaschinen
GmbH. Shareholders: Walter A. Lamp and Dieter
Kroll. An asset-deal means continuity, and
guarantees the assumption of all obligations
towards customers, suppliers and employees.

2004: Saving the future: due to the sale to the
EMAG Maschinenfabrik GmbH in Salach
the succession of shareholders is guaranteed
resulting in an considerably increased presence
on international markets. This new configuration
allows an increased turnover since 1995
and safeguards employment for the next years.

2008: In October 2008 all company shares of
Schwäbische Werkzeugmaschinen GmbH have
been transferred to the newly founded Süddeutsche-
EMAG Verwaltungs GmbH. The Süddeutsche
Beteiligung GmbH with its headquarters in Stuttgart
has taken over 70% of the Süddeutsche-EMAG
Verwaltungs GmbH; via the trading company EMAG
has still a 30% share on SW.
